Pikewood Creative had the pleasure of working with Stonewall Group and the West Virginia Department of Commerce in the summer of 2011 to complete a business development video and :30 commercial to use in their business recruiting efforts, showcasing why West Virginia is best positioned to serve as home for a variety of business operations.

For two weeks in June, we traveled all over the state filming executives from several companies, large and small, to interview them about why they enjoy doing business and having their operation in West Virginia. We interviewed staff from Coldwater Creek and DuPont Washington Works in the Parkersburg area; the team at BrooAlexa in Charleston, and the team at Renick Millworks in Renick; executives at STaSIS, Quad Graphics, and the Macy’s Distribution Center, all in the Eastern Panhandle; and we came closer to our home in Morgantown to film the President & CEO of Azimuth in Fairmont. Those who are new to the state talked about how proactive West Virginia was in helping them decide to bring their businesses to the state, and how much help the Development Office and Small Business Administration have been as their businesses grow and expand.

We recently completed a project for the West Virginia Fusion and Intelligence Center. The fusion center concept is relatively young and it was created following the 9/11 terrorist attacks as a means to gather information in conjunction with the office of Homeland Security.

The West Virginia Fusion and Intelligence Center needed a video that would both educate and inform citizens of its mission. A key ingredient to a successful fusion center is the gathering of intelligence and information from residents. By conducting a series of interviews with key national and regional law enforcement personnel we explained how the gathering of information could prevent terrorist and criminal activity. We also clearly defined the Eight Signs of Terrorism through the use of customized motion graphics.

Change your clothes. Change your world. SustainU is an American clothing company that produces high performance apparel using fabrics made in the USA from 100% recycled materials to provide extraordinary comfort and wear, while reducing environmental waste, carbon emissions and water use.

This corporate video production promotes the SustainU brand while creating awareness about the manner in which textiles are produced in the current global economy. The concept behind the SustainU brand is creating new, useful, and quality products from what would otherwise be trash. In keeping with this idea, all the footage was shot (in high definition) at an old, abandoned warehouse that was last used during World War II. With the old factory as the backdrop, the message of how we can change the world by wearing recycled clothes was captured. The process started with a comprehensive script. We worked closely with SustainU staff to summarize the facts and establish each scene.

Once all the footage was shot and digitized, we started the post production process. PF Hoe was used to track the camera movements of the various scenes. The data was then used to create effects to compliment and visualize the topics. Custom graphics were added throughout to the piece to help tell the story and promote the SustainU brand.

Located high atop a mesa in a mountain setting near Morgantown, West Virginia, Pikewood National Golf Club is a breathtakingly scenic and wonderfully challenging core golf course. Pikewood National is designed in the classic tradition of preeminent golf course architects, Donald Ross and Alister MacKenzie. Pikewood National is a golf course built by players, specifically for players, embodying everything that is good and pure about the game.

Pikewood National is challenging yet at the same time serene and beautiful and is unmarred by either commercial or residential development. Simply put, Pikewood National is an undisturbed walk through nature. As part of Pikewood National‘s mission to preserve the time-honored traditions of the game, it is a walking only course that can be undertaken either by carrying one’s own bag or taking a caddy. The walk will include dramatic views, nature trails through majestic forests and spectacular limestone rock outcroppings framing the greens and lining the fairways.

In the production of this image film, the footage was shot in high definition. We finalized the piece with custom editing and creative motion graphics design. The finished video production is used on the web, for presentations, and distributed on Blue Ray Disc. This is a great example of how custom video production can be used to promote golf courses, resorts, and other areas within the hospitality and recreation industries.

Stone Energy Corporation is an independent oil and natural gas exploration and production company that is active in the Marcellus Shale area in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The Stone Energy mission is helping to develop a clean and secure U.S. energy source that contributes to energy diversity and lessens dependence on foreign energy imports.

We produced this corporate video production for Stone Energy so they could educate and inform people in regard to the benefits and challenges of horizontal drilling for Marcellus Shale in the Mid-Atlantic region.

This video production included a multitude of actual oil drilling site photography as well as custom motion graphics and 3D animation. The custom animation guides viewers through the technical steps of horizontal drilling. The video provides a look at the entire process from beginning to end and provides a high level view of how the drilling operations work.

We worked closely with the engineers and senior leadership at Stone Energy to produce the video. We did this to ensure that the accuracy and integrity of the drilling process was properly conveyed in the animation.

This kind of corporate and educational demonstrates how video helps create awareness and understanding in regard to complex topics.

Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College share a 120-acre main campus in Fairmont, West Virginia. Partnership provides students with the opportunity to find their future from more than 145 skill sets, certificates, associate degrees, bachelor’s degrees and graduate programs. FSU features a branch campus in Clarksburg, at the Gaston Caperton Center. Through Off-Campus Programs, Pierpont offers a variety of courses at more than 15 sites in North Central West Virginia. Fairmont values scholarship, opportunity, achievement and responsibility.

This corporate video was filmed over several days on the FSU campus in Fairmont, WV. FSU faculty, staff, and students volunteered their time to assist in making this video production a success. With this kind of corporate video, collaboration between producer and client becomes very important. In this case, the entire process was smooth and the end result speaks for itself.

Fairmont State University was recently known as Fairmont State College. Along with the transition from college to university comes the need to establish an identity and clearly communicate the message of the new institution.

Fairmont State University wanted to reinvent itself and convey to the prospective students in West Virginia and surrounding states that FSU is an excellent option for achieving a high quality education at an affordable price.

We interviewed alumni, faculty, staff, and students to capture the story and then filmed many of the new and improved facilities on campus. The overall strategy with this corporate video was to create something that could be used in media outlets, such as the Internet, and provide FSU with a tool for telling this story in a way no presentation, class, or lecture ever could. We also produced a series of television commercials to complement the video.

Hospice Care brings compassion, care and support to individuals and their families transitioning through life-limiting illness while providing outreach, education and expertise in grief support to the entire community.

The folks at Hospice Care Corporation are truly special people with a unique perspective on life. Meeting with Hospice Care staff and listening to their stories made us realize just how important it is to receive proper care and attention at this tender stage of life. This isn’t a topic that most folks want to consider or have to deal with at all. Nevertheless, it’s something with which we will all be impacted eventually. The caring and loving people at Hospice Care Corporation of West Virginia made quite an impression on us and producing this video was a real pleasure. It’s a project we’ll never forget. We became so involved in the stories and in the wonderful work Hospice Care performs in our community, that our lives will forever be transformed and we’re sure that these stories will impact the lives of many others as well. Through this project, we learned that life is for living and that great stories are really worth telling.

The primary use of this corporate video is on the Hospice Care corporate website. The video is intended to create awareness about this kind of health care, show the impact Hospice Care has on the lives of patients, friends and family, and communicate that Hospice Care is a very important part of the community.

We love this kind of project… starting a video with great people who do great things always results in a great video production. This is the kind of story that can make a difference for any business or organization. This project has strongly reinforced our belief in telling real and honest stories from the heart.

Along with the United Way, we are proud of our community and are committed to doing everything we can to make it even better. Each year Pikewood Creative donates time, talents and resources to helping produce a United Way corporate video that creates awareness about the wonderful things happening in our community because of the United Way, and also to encourage giving, volunteering, and support.

In this corporate video, we focused on the topic of homelessness, which many folks in our area are completely unaware of. We spent some time in the areas where many homeless people live and captured stories about their lives. We also interviewed volunteers and experts to create this educational video. We are blessed to have great people like Laura Jones, Karen Fitzpatrick, and John Sonnenday in our community and we are proud to be a supporter of the United Way.

Reaching children, restoring families. That’s the mission of Chestnut Mountain Ranch in Morgantown, WV. Through a Christ-centered approach, families with boys in crisis will have a place to turn. These boys will experience hope and healing while their families will pursue restoration and reunification.

This is a classic Pikewood Creative video production. We interviewed the people involved in and impacted by CMR, filmed on location at CMR, and produced story that communicates the great possibilities of the organization. This video production is used in fundraising and awareness efforts all over the state of West Virginia and beyond. We’ve partnered with Chestnut Mountain Ranch from the very beginning, which started with some land and a dream. CMR is now enrolling boys and working to complete housing on site. It is a great example of how real stories can effectively work to communicate a message in a unique and powerful way.
